- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Trying to get a new social security card for my son so I thought I would be prepared when going in. I printed the application online that said I also needed supporting docs like his birth certificate and shot records. So I gathered the info and went. I sat for 2 hours waiting just to be told that none of the docs were accepted and that I needed a letter from his doctor or school. What?! So you mean to tell me official docs like a birth certificate will not suffice but yet a simple letter that anyone could forge will? And why does their website mislead you by telling you the wrong docs to bring? I then asked if I could mail in the information and I was told yes but I would have to send in originals including my original drivers license! SERIOUSLY!?! Isn't it illegal not to carry identification on you at all times? Soooo does that mean the SS office is asking you to commit a crime? Hmmm?By Tiffany Coulter, May 06, 2017
